Moots Routt gets an upgrade with 57mm tyre clearance and front-end integration
Moots has updated its Routt titanium gravel bike, increasing the frame clearance to 57mm from 50mm, redesigning the carbon fork for wider tyres and adding internal cabling through its custom alloy stem. The changes are a response to the increase in tyre width, faster pace and more technical terrain typical of modern gravel riding, with Moots saying the idea behind the bike hasnt changed, but the places it can take you have.Moots says the Routt is designed around 50mm tyres, citing the lower pressure they enable, the added grip and the ability to carry speed over rougher ground. At the same time, it claims, the Routt retains its versatility, catering for racing, bikepacking and long endurance gravel rides. The Routt's clearance increases to 57mm thanks to a new 3D-printed chainstay yoke. 57mm seems to be the new 45mm in gravel bike clearance. We have seen brands such as Canyon with the new Grail and Factor with the Elara launching updates to their gravel bikes or completely new models with around this much room for wide rubber; the new Specialized Crux has 55mm.XC MTB tyres are an increasingly popular choice, while there are more gravel tyres being offered in greater widths. To cater for the update, Moots has made changes to the Routt's frame and fork. The frame now has a 3D-printed chainstay yoke, enabling riders to fit a 1x groupset with a 48-tooth chainring, while retaining 2x compatibility. Theres a BSA bottom bracket and chainstay length increases to 437mm. The updated design means brake hoses can pass through the head tube. The fork has been redesigned with a D-shaped steerer, enabling brake hoses to pass through the head tube. Its paired with Moots own titanium stem for an integrated cockpit. The head tube angle is between 70 and 70.75 degrees across frame sizes, while the fork rake is 57mm on smaller and 50mm on larger sizes.Theres the option to run mullet drivetrains, as well as SRAM Full Mount XPLR groupsets, using the brand's own UDH dropouts. The Routt is electronic-only, if routed internally, and theres electronic and mechanical dropper compatibility. The 5 best new titanium gravel bikes of 2026 so farTwo frame grades A UDH dropout provides compatibility with SRAM XPLR AXS groupsets. While the Routt and Routt RSL were previously separate models, Moots is now casting the Routt RSL as a premium frameset upgrade. The Routt frame is constructed from straight-gauge 3/2.5 titanium, while the Routt RSL is made from double-butted tubing. Moots claims the RSL upgrade not only makes the frame lighter, but it offers a quicker, more direct feel under power. It targets all-round use with the base-model Routt and performance riding with the RSL upgrade. The Routt RSL frame is slated for availability in early 2027. The standard Routt will be followed in early 2027 by the RSL premium frameset. The Routt frame offers three bottle cage mounts, a top tube mount and, on the non-RSL frame, mudguard mounts and the option to spec rack mounts. The updated Moots Routt is priced at $5,499 for the base frameset. Full builds are priced at $9,999 for Force XPLR AXS, $10,199 for a Force/X0 12-speed mullet and $12,499 for Red XPLR AXS, all with Nobl Far 50 wheels on either DT Swiss 350 or Chris King R45D hubs and Vittoria Terreno T30 50mm tyres. The Routt is available to order immediately, with Routt RSL pricing to be announced closer to launch.

'I did everything I could' Isabella Holmgren takes bittersweet Worlds silver in front of home crowd
Isabella Holmgrens teammates couldnt contain their joy. Crossing the line long after the sprint for the medals had taken place, they screamed with delight, then darted through the media tent towards the podium to cheer for their Bella. But on the podium, Holmgren herself looked to be fighting back tears. Yes, she had won silver in the under-23 womens road race at a home World Championships, but she had come for gold. After an attritional 10 laps around the challenging Montral circuit, the race came down to a two-up sprint with Slovakias Viktria Chladoov, last years runner-up, reaching the line first. From the small chase, Belgiums Fleur Moors won the sprint for bronze 33 seconds later, ahead of Switzerlands Mara Winter and Australias Talia Appleton. The repetitive 134km/83.3-mile course packed a serious punch with 2,690 metres/8,825 feet of climbing, gradually wearing down the field. Slovakia raced a smart race with a rider in the break at all times. Sofia Ungerov did a lot of the work for the country, staying out front with Finland's Wilma Antila for six laps. The breakaway was finally caught when, with 31 kilometres remaining, Chladoov, Holmgren and Moors made the decisive move. Homgren did a lot of work and even tried to shed her breakaway companion but Chladoov held firm, surviving the Canadians attacks before coming around her in the sprint to claim the rainbow jersey."For sure, I wanted to win in front of a home crowd," Holmgren said in the press conference afterwards. "I'm disappointed to not win for Canada, but there were so many positives from today, so I can't be too upset." (Image credit: Getty Images)Holmgren and Chladoov both race on the WorldTour for Lidl-Trek and Visma-Leas a Bike, respectively, and know eachother well. As such, Holmgren knew the Slovakian has a kick and tried to avoid a sprint, but each time Chladoov stayed with her.I gave everything on that first climb on the last lap, and it wasnt enough to be solo. And then I tried again on the last climb, but once again, [Chladoov] was able to follow," she said."In the end, it came down to a sprint, which isnt ideal for me, but I did everything I could on the day."Behind Homgren's medal was a collective Canadian effort. Alex Volstad and Kiara Lylyk kept the team near the front and covered attacks, while Holmgren's twin sister, Ava Holmgren, raised the pace on a climb after Holmgren asked for a harder race. Sydney Swierenga also covered moves and provided support."I think [the medal] was won by the whole team today, and I'm really proud of that.," Holmgren acknowledged. "I'm just really grateful to have raced in Canada and to see everybody out supporting us," she said. "So I think it was a positive day altogether."
