French direct-to-consumer brand Origine launches in the UK with new aero road bike
French direct-to-consumer brand Origine is launching in the UK today and, to coincide, its also launching a new aero road bike, the Fraxion X.Origine claims the Fraxion X is its most aero road bike to date, with a 15-watt drag reduction at 40km/h versus its Fraxion GTR predecessor. Origine says it has designed the bike for real-world conditions, not only to be fast in CFD simulations and the wind tunnel. The Fraxion X is available in two carbon grades, with the higher-modulus frame having an 875g claimed weight, which Origine says represents a 5% reduction from the Fraxion GTR. It also claims significant stiffness increases at the head tube and bottom bracket. Origine claims the Fraxion X's deep head tube and fork contribute to a 15-watt saving over its previous-generation Fraxion GTR aero bike. Tyre clearance is 32mm and the bike can be set up with either mechanical or electronic shifting, with the Di2 battery on Shimano electronic builds housed in the down tube, to enable the seatpost to be kept narrow and lower the bikes centre of gravity. The bike has Origines one-piece AeroFlow cockpit, which is available in no fewer than 45 width/length/rise combinations. A steering limiter and tab to protect the frame from a dropped chain lower the risk of frame damage. There are 45 width/length/rise options for the Fraxion X's cockpit. Origine calls the two carbon grades available for the Fraxion X Core and Lite, offering a standard-modulus and a higher-modulus frameset, the latter stiffer and saving 150g.Theres also an RR option that, based on the Lite frame, adds ceramic bearings, titanium hardware and lighter axles and seatpost clamp. Built up with SRAM Red AXS and DT Swiss ARC 1100 wheels, Origine claims the bike can weigh as little as 6.6kg, which it says makes it among the lightest aero road bikes available.Fraxion X example specs, weights and prices There are many different configuration options, including 1x with ENVE wheels. The top-spec Lite frameset, built up with SRAM Red AXS and DT Swiss ARC 1100 55mm wheels, has a claimed 6.69kg weight and is priced at 9,980.Other groupset choices include Shimano Dura-Ace, Ultegra, 105 Di2 and 105, while quoted SRAM specs extend to Force AXS as well as Red AXS.A 105 Di2 spec on the Core frameset, with Origines own Prymahl Orion C40 wheelset has a 7.81kg claimed weight and is priced at 5,374. Switch to mechanical 105 and the price drops to 4,830.The Fraxion X is available in sizes XS to XL.What is Origine? Origine is based in northern France, close to the route of Paris-Roubaix. Based since 2012 near Valenciennes in northern France, Origines development centre and factory is 8km from the famed five-star Troue dArenberg secteur of Paris-Roubaix.It was previously the provider of neutral service bikes to Shimano, although more recently its bikes have been superseded by the 2016 Canyon Ultimate CF SLX, which we took a look at ahead of the 2026 Tour de France.Origine sells the full range of bike categories: road, gravel, mountain and electric, all of which are hand-assembled in Valenciennes. Its online fitting app helps you choose the right bike size and components and select from more than 17 million configuration options and hand-painted finishes. Its bikes are delivered ready to ride, so theres no assembly needed. Its been selling its bikes in France, Switzerland and Benelux for years, but alongside the UK is now expanding into Germany, Italy and Spain.Origine backs up its bikes with a lifetime guarantee on the frame, a 30-day return window, a network of 400 service centres Europe-wide and an adjustment guarantee.

'This is where the British men's yellow jerseys story started' New cycling museum planned in honour of Tour de France legend Tom Simpson
A new museum entirely dedicated to British bike racing is being planned for a town in Nottinghamshire where one of the greatest professional bike racers Britain has ever produced spent his formative years. As youngster, Tom Simpson delivered groceries around the houses of Harworth and the Bassetlaw district, but he would go on to become a road-racing world champion, Olympic and Commonwealth medallist and, in 1962, the first British rider to ever wear the leader's yellow jersey in the Tour de France. Tragically, during the 13th stage of the 1967 Tour de France, 29-year-old Simpson collapsed and died during the climb of Mont Ventoux, having suffered heart failure, which was officially recorded as having been caused by exhaustion, but has also been blamed on the use of alcohol and amphetamines, a practise prevalent at the time. A monument is now located on the spot where he fell. The new museum wont be named after Simpson, but the location has been chosen specifically to honour him, as came to light this week, after Bassetlaw Labour MP Jo White revealed in an interview printed in the Doncaster Free Press that she had been involved in talks with the curators of the proposed British Cycle Racing Museum. There are cycling museums in the UK, but nothing dedicated to this telling the story of British racing," says Chris Sidwell, who says he came up with the concept of the museum, and also just happens to be Tom Simpson's nephew. "Cycle racing is our most successful Olympic sport, our highest funded Olympic sport. It's the pinnacle. British men and women have won all the grand tours. And it's not celebrated anywhere [apart from] a little bit in Manchester.I thought that Harworth, the place where Thompson comes from, was the ideal place for it to be. This is where the British men's yellow jerseys story started."The plans have evolved to go beyond simply a museum, as Sidwell explains. "It will also be a community centre that will encourage cycling. We've got all sorts of little bolt-ons. We trying to connect up to the national cycle network as well from the site. We've built a green wheel cycleway around Harworth. "We're trying to make it a destination. It's going to become a cycling town. It was a coal mining town. We haven't got coal anymore, we've got cycling - so we're selling cycling."

Ultra-riding star and community figurehead Max Riese dies in cycling accident
The ultra-cycling world is in mourning following the death of one of its luminaries, Max Riese. The Austrian was an accomplished ultra-distance racer, as well as the founder of gravel and ultra-riding community GravGrav. The 33-year-old placed fourth in last year's Tour Divide the blue riband ultra-bikepacking event. More recently he won the Hellenic Mountain Race in May and was second in the Silk Road Mountain race in August. Both major events on the ultra-racing calendar."It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the news that Max Riese passed away in a fatal accident on the 15.09.26," read a statement released by GravGrav on social media last night. It continued: "As we all know, Max is a special soul. Although ultra-racing is an individual pursuit, Max cared deeply about the people and the community around it."He leaves behind an irreplaceable space, in the larger community, for gravgrav, but mostly for his family, for Lisa, and his closest ones."Lets all continue riding, exploring, bringing people together, and keep connecting the community Max cared about so deeply. Your spirit will live on in our hearts, in our ideas, and in our actions. You will be missed more than words can express."It finished: "See you around, Max".Tailfin, whom Riese represented as an R&D rider, posted a message on Instagram saying: "Rest in peace, Max Riese. A teammate, a friend and a competitor. Your spirit will live on through the community you built. See you on the climb, Max."At once affable and passionate, Riese has featured in the web pages of Cycling Weekly previously. We ran the story last year when he set a record for a triple Everest, which he completed near his Salzburg home. He also appeared on Cycling Weekly's Going Long podcast, where he spoke about how he discovered a love of ultra-riding, including confounding restaurant proprietors by being able to order two pizzas in one go."It fascinated us," he said. "It was just this idea, like, 'can we do it?'. Like going from Salzburg to Munich and back in one day over 500 kilometres. We had a bunch of friends that basically said, 'how about we try and do this route in 24 hours'? And it was just fun. Also the surreality of like, after 14 hours or something you arrive in Munich after 300 kilometres, and you go into a pizzeria and order two pizzas at once, and they look at you like 'Okay."Cycling Weekly's thoughts are with Max Riese's family and friends at this difficult time. The ultra-riding community will miss him.

Pinarello Expands Its Dogma XC Range with XCT for Marathon and Downcountry, plus More Affordable XC Series
In its three-year history, the Pinarello Dogma XC has seen more than its fair share of podiums. Pauline Ferrand-Prvot raced it to a World Championship title, and Tom Pidcock earned two World Titles, a European title, and an Olympic gold medal aboard the Dogma XC, too. That race-winning bike isnt going anywhere, but moving forward, it will be known as the Dogma XCR.Thats because Pinarello is introducing the Dogma XCT, a race-ready machine made to tackle longer-distance marathon and downcountry races. With the XCT, Pinarello made some cockpit and component changes to enhance capability and comfort over technical terrain and long distances. Additionally, Pinarello is introducing its new, more accessible Dogma XC Series. The Dogma XCR remains very race-focused, but gets some fresh components and a 120mm fork.Dogma XCR and XCTThe flagship Dogma XCR and XCT models are built around the same top-level frame made with TorayCa M40J carbon fiber. It features a flex stay suspension design and 100mm of travel (adjustable to 90mm with a different stroke shock). The top-tier Dogma XCR gets a new coat of paint and numerous component updates, including the full Flight Attendant suspension package with a 120mm SID Ultimate fork, and a speed-oriented build that aims to keep it at the pointy end of modern cross-country races.Dogma XCR: 15,000 | 13,000 | 300,000 ZAR | 14,700 CHFThe new Dogma XCR.Frame TorayCa M40JGroupset SRAM XX SL TransmissionBrakes: SRAM Level UltimateWheelset DT Swiss XRC1200Fork RockShox SID Ultimate Flight Attendant (120mm travel)Shock RockShox SIDLuxe Ultimate Flight AttendantCockpit One-Piece Integrated CarbonSeatpost RockShox Reverb AXS (120-150mm travel dependent on size )Tyres Vittoria Mezcal RACE 2.4Color: Arctic FlamelThe XCT gets meatier rubber and a more relaxed cockpit setup.Dogma XCTThe new Dogma XCT shares the same frame and geometry and is still a race-ready machine focused on efficiency, precise handling, and speed. With the XCT, however. Pinarello added some more robust components and relaxed the cockpit setup to enhance capability and comfort over long distances. The biggest differences are the Fox suspension package, the beefier Maxxis Rekon tires, and the wider, higher-rise two-piece cockpit setup.Dogma XCT: 13,500 | 12,000 | 270,000 ZAR | 13,250 CHFThe Dogma XCT.Frame TorayCa M40JGroupset Shimano XTR Di2 112Brakes: Trickstuff Piccola CarbonWheelset DT Swiss XRC1200Fork Fox 34 SL Factory (120mm travel)Shock Fox Float Factory 21050Stem Race Face Turbine SLHandlebar Race Face Era CARBONSeatpost Fox Transfer (120-150mm travel dependent on size )Tyres Maxxis Rekon 2.4 TRColor: Arctic VeilNew Dogma XC SeriesTo complement its flagship Dogma XCR and XCT models, Pinarello is also introducing the new XC Series.
