- WWW.BIKERADAR.COMThis is not a concept bike: Mason and Hunt reveal 32in-wheel adventure hardtail at Bespoked DresdenMason will display the Macro32, an adventure hardtail with unreleased 32in wheels from Hunt, at Bespoked Dresden 2026.The bicycle company says the bike is the first 32in bike of its kind from a UK brand, and probably the first like this in the world. It takes Masons Macro29 bikepacking adventure bike and adds 32in wheels, one of cyclings biggest tech trends.Founder and designer Dom Mason says hes watched the progression of 32in wheels from afar.I was sceptical and didnt want to jump in because it was the next BIG thing. Its no good making an adventure bike with rare wheels and tyres that you cant find a replacement for if disaster strikes in the middle of a big ride, Dom Mason says in the bikes official press release. But he says that it seems as though a critical mass has been achieved: "We are seeing a really usable selection of 32in tyres in various widths, from most of the big makers, along with the emergence of suitable suspension forks from brands like DTSwiss. You may like: We hoped they wouldnt be as good: what the bike industry really thinks about 32in wheelsNot a concept bike The Mason Macro32 will be released in 2027. Mason Cycles Bespoked Dresden gets underway today, Friday 11 September, but the independent bicycle show has already proven itself as a testing ground for 32in wheels. At Bespoked London 2026 in April, several frame builders had 32in bicycles on display and many were one-offs.Mainstream brands have also released 32in prototypes, including Scotts 32in gravel bike and Canyons custom Grizl for LeBron James. But Mason says the Macro32 is not a concept bike: We have identified true potential and we are in serious development, with a view to adding the Macro32 to our range for 2027.Mason says its supported riders Josh Ibbet and Angus Young will ride the final development of the bike during the inaugural 1,460km Taurus Mountain Race in October. It will then refine and tweak the bike where necessary, and finalise the geometry and features ahead of its official release next year.Macro lends itself perfectly to 32in wheels The Macro has all the mounting points you'd expect from an adventure bike. Mason Cycles Mason says the aluminium Macro lends itself perfectly to the inherent advantages of a large fast-rolling wheel".It adds that the geometry of the adventure hardtail bike is also a natural fit for the larger wheel size. It says it can design three sizes medium, large and extra large without making compromises to rider fit, efficiency or clearances. We dont want to lose the engaging and dependable ride feel of the Macro, purely for straight line speed. Keeping the rider-compartment similar to the Macro29 is key here, along with keeping BB height, wheelbase and trail angles in check.New seatstay, chainstay and seat tube design were all necessary, once again carried out in conjunction with our master tube makers at Dedacciai, Italy. The bike will also use Masons HotShoe2 carbon fork. The clearance for a mudguard and large tyres means it can accommodate 32in wheels.New Hunt Proven 32in wheels The bike has 32in Hunt Proven wheels. Mason Cycles Fitted to the Macro32 are 32in wheels from Masons long-term collaborator, Hunt. The two companies have worked together closely since Mason was founded in 2014, with Hunt producing wheelsets for its bikes. Now Hunt has developed the Proven 32in wheelset, which debuts on the Mason Macro32. It also features new 32in adaptors from Tailfin. Mason Cycles Mason has revealed little about the wheels and Hunt is yet to respond to BikeRadars enquiry about them, but we know the wheels use Boost spacing. This could help retain the stiffness and strength, even if some brands have opted to use Super Boost spacing for the wheel size. The Macro32 also features new 32in adaptors for the Tailfin Speedpack. Bespoked Dresden will be the first time theyve been on display at a bike show.0 Σχόλια 0 Μοιράστηκε 330 Views

- WWW.CYCLINGWEEKLY.COM'We want to try and create a platform for British cycling' Elite club team sets its sights on going proRide Revolution are not the first British club team to declare that they want to go pro. In the past couple of years, there have been whispers of others wanting to move to UCI Continental level, not least Raptor Factory Racing, who declared this time last year that they were aiming to move up. That didnt come to pass. Since Trinity Racing and Saint Piran disappeared in 2024, there has been no domestic mens conti team, if you dont count Netcompany-Ineos Racing Academy, who are a WorldTour development squad. However, hoping to change that in the next two years are Ride Revolution. The Milton Keynes-based club have been ever-present in domestic racing in the past couple of years, along with some forays abroad, and want to move up a level. Their aim is to become a Continental team by 2028, not jumping up immediately. Their mid-August Instagram post explained: For the last few seasons, weve been building Ride Revolution, one small step at a time. From domestic racing, to National Series success, to our first UCI races and international campaigns, every season has taken us a little further. Now, were ready to take a much bigger step. Our goal is to build Ride Revolution towards a professional level and establish a genuine UK development pathway supported by the people, partners, equipment and infrastructure required to compete at that level.Founded and run by Jake Hales, alongside team manager Zak Dawson, the pair are keen for the growth to be sustainable, as the latter explained to Cycling Weekly last week: Weve said 18 months because we know there are challenges. Jake has ridden on a Continental team before, and knows the level it needs to be, and we want to professionalise and give the riders the opportunity. Were not trying to do this to make money, if we could see our team as a Continental squad racing around the world, how cool would that be? he continued. Were not just a race team with someone owning us, and we want to say to the top riders in the UK we can offer you a full programme, come on board. Theres a story line of trying to create a development team and create opportunities, but also have a bit of fun.Theres also the coaching side, which is how Ride Revolution began in the first place, in 2019. Dawson said: Its a sustainable method of bringing them in, coaching them, and also offering a race programme. We could have come out with the news and said we need this amount of money, but its about what can be sustainable to continue our growth.Im organising the races and the riders, while Jakes overseeing the whole programme, the coaching, and the selection, he continued. Between the two of us, its become a passion project. Since the start of last year, we also had a coaching client come onboard, offering his support to the team, which was a really good help. There are currently eight British Cycling-backed Elite Development Teams. Ride Revolution were not among those in 2026, but they want to go bigger. We want to try and create a platform for British cycling because it has been lacking, and a lot of riders on the UK scene need a way through, Dawson says.2027 will be a year for progress, and attempting to prove to sponsors that they should back the outfit: Its about showing the professional side next year, offering opportunities, showing that we can achieve what we want to achieve before we take the big step. The reaction has been good so far, Dawson said: When we announced it, we were sceptical about whether it would go well or not, but weve done really well. There has been a lot of support for it, people have been coming up at races to mention it, and the overall attitude is that we can make this work. However, the real work begins, with partners needed to make the dream a reality. Elite and under-23 riders are also encouraged to apply. Were open to any kind of conversation, Dawson said. We need support from people, staff, riders, others that have gone through this process. Ideally, were looking to bring more sponsors, as Ride Revolution is currently the only one. We want to stay the same team, but were open to others coming on board. The more people we can get, the more hype we can create, the more chance we have of success.0 Σχόλια 0 Μοιράστηκε 277 Views
