"Edgy, fast, rail-all-day ripper" Canyon's latest Lux Trail drops 200g of weight yet gains more travel
Canyon has revamped the Lux Trail, offering more travel (140mm front and 125mm rear) and a 200g lighter weight than the previous version. The Lux Trail is designed to be a light trail or aggressive downcountry bike blending the cross-country (XC) climbing efficiency of the Lux with more travel and aggressive trail geometry.Canyon claims it's an edgy, fast, rail-all-day ripper of a trail bike.More travel and less weight Canyon's newest Lux Trail has a 140mm-travel fork and 125mm rear-suspension travel. Canyon Canyon is speccing the new Lux Trail with a 140mm-travel fork, which is a pronounced jump of 20mm, while there's an increase of 10mm to 125mm travel at the rear of the bike.We called the outgoing Lux Trail a true downcountry bike in all but name and Canyon is looking to match the capabilities of the newest version to its trail nomenclature without losing its XC-derived responsiveness.Canyon boasts that the new carbon frame is a significant 200g lighter than the previous Lux Trail, claiming the new frame weighs in at only 1,850g a whole 1kg less than Canyons Neuron CF frame, which is the brand's burlier trail bike.At a stated 12.1kg for the top-tier CF 9 model, it's lighter than the priciest Santa Cruz Tallboy by some margin.Canyon claims the pedalling efficiency is still as good as the outgoing, shorter-travel Lux Trail. The light weight and simplicity of the flexstay arrangement used by the previous version of the bike remains, but gone is the very XC-looking top-tube mounted swing-link and semi-hidden shock. Instead, the new Lux Trail uses a seat-tube mounted, 3D-forged swing-link to activate the (still) top-tube mounted shock.Canyon has added circlips to secure the bearings, which it says will improve stiffness and durability.Updated frame construction The new Lux Trail frame has a relocated 3D-forged rocker link and Canyon claims it weighs only 1,850g. Canyon The latest Lux Trail's head angle is 2.2 degrees slacker than the 67 degrees of the previous bike, but the relatively steep 76-degree seat angle remains. The reach is marginally shorter than the previous bike, but the wheelbase (which now measures 1,231mm on the large) is slightly longer, thanks to the longer fork and slacker head angle. The previous Lux Trail had 435mm chainstays on every size, but the new version gets proportionally sized chainstays 435mm on the XS to M sizes and 445mm on the L and XL.Canyon Lux Trail specification The Lux trail CF 7 includes carbon wheels, SRAM Eagle 90 Transmission and a Fox 36 SL fork. Canyon There are four specifications of the new Lux Trail on offer, and all feature the same carbon frame and 29in wheels. The top-of-the-range CF 9 has a Fox Factory 36 SL fork, Fox Float Factory shock and dropper post, and SRAMs X0O AXS drivetrain. The CF 8 gets Fox Performance Elite suspension and a GX AXS drivetrain, and the CF 6 has all-aluminium parts, an XT drivetrain, and a Fox Rhythm 34 fork and Fox Float Rhythm shock. However, it's the CF 7 that catches my attention. It weighs only 12.8kg (claimed), but includes goodies such as carbon wheels and SRAMs Full Mount Eagle 90 mechanical drivetrain to go with the SRAM Motive brakes and Fox Performance 36 SL fork. At 3,799, that appears to be a high-spec build and a low overall weight for the money.Bonus features The top-of-the-range Lux Carbon CF 9 has Fox Factory suspension and dropper post, and a claimed weight of only 12.1kg. Canyon Canyon claims the new lighter frame now houses easier-to-access in-frame storage with an improved securing mechanism. The new bike has three bottle-cage mounts, which should be enough for even the hottest days in the saddle.Looking at the spec, we can infer the bike can be equipped with a traditional derailleur hanger or SRAMs Full Mount system, which is good news for future derailleur upgrades.Price and availability The Lux Trail is aimed at downcountry and trail riders who want an efficient-climbing and aggressive-handling trail bike. Canyon The four models are all available now worldwide via the Canyon website and Canyon App. Lux Trail CF 6: 2,849 / $3,999 / 2,999 Lux Trail CF 7: 3,799 / $4,999 / 3,999 Lux Trail CF 8: 4,749 / $5,999 / 4,999 Lux Trail CF 9: 5,699 / $6,999 / 5,999

Get the Paul Seixas look: The youngest rider to start the Tour de France in 89 years, and with arguably the most affordable setup
The first rest day is done; what a first week it has been. As we consider the racing still left to do, I just want to take a minute to look at the mind-blowing statistics surrounding the 19-year-old Frenchman Paul Seixas' rise to become France's next big hope. He may be the youngest rider to start the Tour de France in 89 years; however, he currently sits sixth in the GC; and that is no accident. He is one of the youngest ever to win a WorldTour race, and the youngest-ever winner at La Flche Wallonne. Not to mention two second places to none other than Tadej Pogaar at Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Strade Bianche. What's even more remarkable is that the kit he uses to secure these wins, podiums, and records is so affordable. Decathlon's kit provider, Van Rysel (the in-house bike brand of Decathlon), is now well known for offering WorldTour-level products at very affordable prices, including some of the best budget road bikes. You too can kit yourself out exactly like Paul on a budget with many items our experts highly rate, such as the Van Rysel RCR-F MIPs Helmet. Van Rysel RCR-R 5 Bibshorts Van Rysel RCR-R 2 Jersey Van Rysel EDR Cycling Socks Van Rysel RCR-F Mips Helmet Van Rysel RCR-R Cycling Socks Van Rysel RCR-R Pro Bibshorts Van Rysel RCR-F Aero Jersey Van Rysel RCR-F Aero Gloves Van Rysel RCR-R 2 Team Skinsuit Van Rysel RCR-R Pro To further labour the point, let's put some numbers to it...Seixas is currently touring France in a pair of 69.99 budget sunglasses. Compare that to Pogaar, who just launched a pair of Titanium Scicon Aeroshade 2.0s, which are nearly 200, or 270 Oakley Velo Kato favoured by Jonas Vingegaard. That's the case across the board: the RCR-F MIPs Helmet selected by much of the Decathlon team is a mere 129; the most recently updated Met Trenta 3k Carbon MIPS is 350. The RCR-R Road Bike - 10,000 at the top spec, identical to Seixas, and, well, you just can't buy a Colnago Y1RS with Pogaar's spec; the closest you will get is a 12,000 Shimano Dura-Ace model, which doesn't feature his Carbon-Ti chainrings, new 'aero bottom bracket' by Bikone or the yet to be released new UCI compliant, Enve SES Pro wheels. In fact, the only thing Seixas chooses not to use from Van Rysel is the company's best cycling shoes, and opts for a Giro Empire SLX II lace-up. Given how important shoes are to bike fit, this is, for the time being, at the very least, a personal choice, and most likely because VR doesn't currently cater to that top end of the market... just yet.(Image credit: Getty Images)Everything I have featured in this piece has, at some point this season, been used by the Decathlon CMA CGM team or Sexias himself - many products also come highly rated by our experts, for example, the Van Rysel RCR-F helmet. Decathlon's Van Rysel range of products is not widely available outside the UK and Europe, so for our readers in the US, check the box below to see what is on offer, as some retailers like REI do stock some bikes like the Van Rysel GRVL AF gravel bikes and the RCR helmets.

Focused on the raw, emotional reality of cycling: Lapierre launches limited-edition Xelius DRS frameset to celebrate its 80th year
Lapierre has announced a special edition of its Xelius DRS aero road frameset to mark the brands 80th anniversary. Appropriately for the proudly French brand, the launch is on 14 July, the French national holiday. The 80th Anniversary Lapierre Xelius DRS will be sold in a limited run of only 100 framesets in a special Kinetic Dust colour.Lapierre says the 'dust' mottling is concentrated in areas of the frame under the highest stress: think bottom bracket, fork crown and seatstay/top tube junction. Lapierre says the mottling is concentrated around areas of the frame with high stress. Marijn Sourbron "When we were designing this frameset to celebrate the brands 80th anniversary, we wanted to embrace the philosophy of Lapierre, which is why we focused on the raw, emotional reality of cycling," says the company's global brand manager, Dorian Tabeau. Lapierre will sell only 100 of the 80th anniversary framesets. Marijn Sourbron According to Lapierre, the frame colour "illustrates the emotional residue of performance" no, were not sure what that means either. It goes on to state the dark blue "represents Lapierres DNA and legacy, while also symbolising the calm before intensity". Its combined with teal, which it claims "signifies the moment pain transforms into momentum" and champagne, which "conveys quiet satisfaction and a personal victory".Were not sure we buy the design-speak, but it does look nice.Ridden by Picnic-PostNL pro team Picnic-PostNL will ride the special-edition frame from stage 10 of the Tour de France. Marijn Sourbron The special-edition frameset will be rolled out under Lapierres sponsored Picnic-PostNL team at the Tour de France on stage 10 on Bastille Day. Lapierre points out the Xelius DRS raw frame weight of 740g and 3D Tubular design, where the seatstays join the front triangle at the top tube rather than the seat tube. The seatstays are connected to the top tube rather than the seat tube to add compliance. Marijn Sourbron Lapierre was founded by Gaston Lapierre, who set up shop in Dijon making steel bikes such as those used in the 1980s by the French postal service. Latterly, it branched out into full-suspension MTBs and electric mountain bikes, as well as carbon-framed road bikes from the early 2000s, and was closely associated with retired French star Thibaut Pinot, who rode Lapierre bikes throughout his professional career at FDJ.If you want to buy the Xelius DRS 80th anniversary frameset, its available in sizes S, M and L, and priced at 4,499.

Backies, bucket hats, banana avatars, rowing riders and wacky World Cup conspiracy theories The first nine stages of the 2026 Tour de France, as seen through social media
The first nine stages of the 2026 Tour de France are done and dusted, and the familiar figure of Tadej Pogaar is of course rolling around in yellow. Less predictable have been some of the sights, scenes and memes emerging from the various social media accounts of the World-Tour teams as the people around the riders add some depth and perspective to the athletes we mostly see with their heads down, hurtling around the route of the race. 1. The Uno-X Mobility team channeled the Viking vibe around Norway's Erling Haaland, combining riding with rowing, and the drum-beating battle cry did the trick too (for a while), with Torstein Tren moving into yellow jersey for two stages, before the wheels fell off his race on the Col du Tourmalet during stage six, and he was forced to abandon the Tour with busted ribs an injury cruelly followed by a broken heart on Saturday when Norway were knocked out of the World Cup by England (and their specially trained spider cam). A post shared by Uno-X Mobility Cycling (@unoxteam)A photo posted by on 2. Meanwhile, Silvan Dillier from Alpecin-Premier Tech revealed that he was not exactly keeping up-to-speed with the World Cup, and that his faith in the world's worst conspiracy theory was misplaced. A post shared by Alpecin Cycling (@alpecincycling)A photo posted by on 3. Tren, who was shipped off to hospital after his crash, might have been missing from the Uno-X Mobility team bus, but Tobias Johannessen made sure he was not forgotten, by bringing in a banana avatar as an honorary replacement. To shelter their rider's heads from the unforgiving sun, Lotto Intermarche launched a new summer festival-style bucket hat, precision made for keeping have-a-go breakaway hero Baptiste Veistroffer's little lugs cool. Everyone on the Tour has been cooking in the conditions, and the Soudal Quickstep riders decided to deal with the apocalyptic heat by crushing ice cubes through the vents in their Specialised helmets.A post shared by Soudal Quick-Step (@soudalquickstepteam)A photo posted by on 6. And, flush from victory, Soudal Quickstep sprinter Tim Merlier, winner of stage seven and stage eight, revealed his Mr Bean dance moves.A post shared by Tour de France (@letourdefrance)A photo posted by on 7. As spotted by Cycling Weekly's own intrepid on-ground team, Pinarello Q36.5's Tom Pidcock was left so knackered after riding a busted bike during stage nine that he had to get a backie from a teammate at the end of stage nine.A post shared by Cycling Weekly (@cyclingweeklymagazine)A photo posted by on 8.
