Lezyne is Calling Its Slim New Road Drive 500 the Fastest Front Light
Lezyne just announced a brand-new model in its already large range of bike lights, the Road Drive 500. With a unique rectangular shape and slim profile, its meant to integrate cleanly and seamlessly into modern road bike cockpits. And with a max output of 500 lumens and an eye-catching, disruptive flash mode, its designed to help you be seen in the daytime and/or see your way after the sun goes down.Road Drive 500 DetailsLezynes new Road Drive 500 light is made specifically for road riding, with a unique shape and appearance that the brand says is intended to blend into modern cockpit setups. With rectangular dimensions the size of a credit card (54.2mm wide x 86.6mm long) and a thickness of just 12mm (17.6mm including the quarter-turn mount), this slim, sleek light is meant to be more aerodynamic than blockier competitors. With an integrated, low-profile quarter-turn mount, the Road Drive 500 attaches cleanly and very closely to the underside of compatible out-front computer mounts. And, depending on the computer, it may even be completely hidden from the riders view beneath it. It also comes with a GoPro-style mount that can be installed in place of the quarter-turn mount to accommodate varying setups.Similar to Lezynes other front lights, the Road Drive 500 has a CNC-machined aluminum body for durability, impact resistance, and a somewhat industrial appearance. Across the front of the light are two powerful little LEDs and a lens that provides a road-optimized beam angle and pattern. Those two LEDs can put out a max of 500 lumens (day flash) or 400 lumens continuously (blast mode). It has three continuous modes and three flash modes to choose from, see the chart below. The Road Drive 50 is powered by a rechargeable 1100mAh battery. According to Lezyne, thats capable of up to 90 minutes of run time at 400 lumens continuous, and a very impressive 55 hours in the 500 lumen daytime flash mode. Recharging is done via USB-C (cable not included). For those embarking on seriously long adventures, it is also compatible with Lezynes Infinite Light Power Pack XL+. The brand also states that it has been rigorously tested and is rated IPX7 for waterproofness.Road Drive 500 SpecsMax Lumens: 500Max Runtime: 55 hoursBattery Capacity (mAh): 1100 (replaceable)Recharge Type: USB-CMaterial: AluminumWeight: 75gDimensions: 86.6mm, 54.2mm, 17.6mmFeatures: IPX7, Daytime Flash, Infinite Light Power Pack XL+ compatibleNew Lezyne Flexi MountsThe Road Drive 500 does not come with a handlebar mount, but Lezyne sells them separately and is introducing two new options. The Flexi Forward and Flexi Aero mounts are both made from CNC-machined aluminum and are two-sided quarter-turn mounts that are compatible with Garmin and Wahoo computers. The Flexi Forward mount is designed to clamp around standard, round handlebars, while the Flexi Aero is made for integrated cockpits with two-bolt computer mount interfaces.
