The march of 32in wheels shows no sign of slowing, with the supersized standard now creeping into yet another corner of cycling: BMX. The SE Bikes Colossal Ripper is claimed to be the worlds first production cruiser BMX bike built around 32in wheels. Cruiser, or wheelie bikes are typically built with large wheels, a tall front end and geometry designed specifically to make pulling extended wheelies easier. The bike is an absolute whopper. SE Bikes The Colossal Ripper takes this concept to the extreme, and SE says the bike has been tested over the past year, claiming it wheelies like a dream and cruises like nothing else on the market. Although they sit philosophically in the same camp as traditional bikes, this towering rig is about as far removed from traditional BMX race or park bikes as its possible to get even if it still looks terrific fun. The bike is offered in a polished alloy or sky blue finish. Build highlights include a three-piece BMX crankset, front and rear hydraulic disc brakes, a four-piece handlebar designed by the brand, and the companys own 2.4in-wide SE Bozack tyres. Priced at $1,299.99 / 969.99, the Colossal Ripper is available internationally through selected retailers.

CyclistMuc Off launches its first drip wax, formulated for low drivetrain wearMuc Off has launched its first drip wax formulation, adding to its already huge range of bike chain lubricants.The new Dark Energy wax is claimed by Muc Off to maximise efficiency and durability, offer low drivetrain wear and to be formulated for use across road, gravel and mountain bikes.Dark Energy represents the most complete balance weve achieved between efficiency, durability and wear. Hitting one of those metrics is difficult. Delivering all three, consistently, is significantly harder, says Alex Trimnell, Muc Offs CEO.A waxed chain is generally considered to offer lower friction than a lubed one, but hot waxing is a bit of a faff.Drip wax uses a liquid carrier to apply the wax to the chain. Its a lot easier to apply, but the chain still needs to be carefully cleaned first and the chain needs to be allowed to cure and the carrier liquid to evaporate before riding.Muc Off says its taken four years for its R&D lab to perfect the Dark Energy wax. Over that time, its tested over 90 formulations, with over 10,000 hours of testing.Muc Offs testing protocol included measuring the coefficient of friction for its sample formulations, followed by extended lab running and quantification of drivetrain wear using contour interferometry to measure microscopic wear scars.It has also commissioned independent testing in Germany and the UK to validate the waxs performance.In addition, its sponsored pros from EF Pro Cycling, Decathlon CMA CGM and other teams have ridden over 10,000km with the Dark Energy wax. Naomi Regg of EF Education-Oatly was using the wax when she won the womens Tour Down Under in January.
