- WWW.BIKERADAR.COMBMX brand that made the famous flying bike in E.T. has just released something incredibleKuwahara has revealed the Grasshopper 1, a chromoly-framed 26in singlespeed 'ATB' that harks back to its early mountain bikes. While those bikes helped Thomas Frischknecht win silver at the 1991 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, the Japanese brand is better known for its BMXs. The KZ-1 is one of the most iconic bikes in history, thanks to a starring role in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Away from the silver screen, the Grasshopper nameplate originated in the 80s, with this retro reinterpretation using standards and components fitting for the time. There is only one spec level, but the three colourways will enable you to flavour your nostalgia accordingly. Its not clear where the bikes will be sold, but if youre looking to pick one up, it will cost you 132,000 or 143,000, depending on the colourway. You might like: The Raleigh Chopper is back by popular demand Extra trendy The Grasshopper 1 is a throwback. Kuwahara Kuwahara calls the Grasshopper 1 an 'ATB', or All Terrain Bike, saying it's focused on around-town and light-trail work. The frame features a classic double-diamond layout and, as youd expect, its geometry is from a different generation, with a 70-degree head angle. The Grasshopper 1 was designed in Japan. Kuwahara 4130 Cr-Mo steel is used for the frame and fork, with external cable routing and horizontal dropouts keeping things period-correct. Kuwahara says the raw colourway is likely to rust over time, but I think that's what they call patina. Kuwahara Its 26in wheels will likely feel like casters to many on technical terrain, but there's still a strong following in the #26aintdead crowd for whom this bike may seem perfect. The wheels use double-wall alloy rims laced to Kuwaharas own Twin-Turbine hubs. A singlespeed setup is implemented, which should keep maintenance down to a minimum in and around town. Very few people mourn the death of cantilever brakes. Kuwahara Dia-Compe DC-980 cantilever brakes are spec'd, which will slow you down eventually, but its not about performance with this bike its a statement of style and simplicity that pays homage to the legendary brands roots. For those who look back with rose-tinted glasses, the purple model features silver components, including the wheels, handlebar, stem and seatpost. Just be sure to keep those shades on when the sun comes out, or prepare to be dazzled.0 Commentaires 0 Parts 229 Vue

- IRISHCYCLE.COMPublic asked for views on Rosslare Strand to Rosslare Harbour Greenway preferred corridorA non-statutory public consultation on the preferred route corridor for the proposed Rosslare Strand to Rosslare Harbour Greenway is being held by Wexford County Council. The council said it is planning the greenway as a mixture of a recreational amenity, a sustainable commuter corridor, and a tourism project. The corridor starts narrow at first, confined to the width of the existing roads at Rosslare Strand at the train station on Station Road, it then runs along Coast Road and back towards the train tracks on Mauritiustown Road. It crosses the train tracks and then runs on the western side of the tracks until it crosses the tracks again along Rosehill Heights. There are no details at this point on what type of infrastructure will be used where the greenway runs along roads; other greenway routes include greenway users sharing sections of roads and streets, especially on less busy streets. The greenway then runs along the coast side of the tracks until it crosses the tracks again, before it crosses the tracks again, before Rosslare Harbour. It then runs along Station Road on the west/south side of the tracks and ends at the N25 / St Patricks Road. The greenway will not extend to the port, and the current shared paths on the N25 are poor and do not go all the way into the port. After the public consultaion the council wants to move to commencing the project design and environmentalevaluation later this year, and then move to the statutory planning process by Q1 2027.According to Wexford County Council: This project form part of an overall vision and strategy for the development of an integrated network of greenways and blueways, as outdoor recreational amenities, for the South East region and beyond. This project will seek to attract domestic and international visitors to come, stay in and explore the region. The proposed Greenway will connect with existing and planned greenways and blueways, creatingrecreational pathways for use by locals and visitors, and encouraging and promoting walking and cyclingin a safe and controlled environment, the council said. An information event on the preferred route corridor took place yesterday, and the online consultation runs until April 1st 2026, on consult.wexfordcoco.ie0 Commentaires 0 Parts 301 Vue
