    New 32 Step-Cast is Fox's lightest ever XC fork thanks to reversed arch, new damper and structural redesign
    The new Fox 32 Step-Cast has seen a total makeover, adopting a reverse arch and new damper, dropping 100g versus the previous generation while gaining a claimed 40 per cent increase in stiffness.With 100mm of travel, the Fox 32 Step-Cast is designed for epic XC marathon rides where every gram counts.Starting at 899 Fox 32 Step-Cast Performance, the new fork is only available in a 44mm offset version for 29in wheels. Why use a reverse arch crown?The reverse arch increases lateral stiffness by 40 per cent over the old model without adding weight. - Mike JamesFox said it used new software to design wireframe lattices that met its design requirements, adapting these into a structure it could manufacture. The new reverse arch crown is the result of this process.While Fox has used a reverse arch on its 32 Taper Cast gravel suspension fork, reverse arches are synonymous with Manitou on mountain bikes. This is the first Fox mountain bike fork to use a reverse arch.While the new lower legs arent any lighter than the traditional forward-facing crown, they provide a 40 per cent stiffness increase for a similar weight, according to Fox. This is because having the arch behind the stanchions helps reduce material as the curvature of the wheels, which means the arch can be made smaller.The new 32 Step-Cast is claimed to be as laterally stiff as the 34 Step-Cast.Grip SL damper drops weightThe new Grip SL damper shaves weight vs FIT4. - Mike JamesThe outgoing FIT4 damper was a closed bladder cartridge system with three on-the-fly compression damping positions open, medium and firm with additional low-speed compression adjustment in the open mode.For 2025, all of Foxs dampers move over to its Grip architecture with a spring-backed IFP (internal floating piston). This provides more consistent positive pressure inside the damper for better and faster damping.It also enables the fork to benefit from the Grip architectures self-healing properties, allowing the ingestion and expulsion of oil through the damper to prevent hydraulic ramp-up.A new spring-backed IFP provides consistent damping performance. - Mike JamesThe Grip SL damper in the 32 Step-Cast retains the 3-position adjustment of FIT4, but does away with the adjustable low-speed compression.The Grip SL damper is claimed to be 65g lighter than the previous FIT4 damper.Fox claims the new damper gives riders better control and a firm lockout for hammering the pedals. It still has a smooth blow-off force to reduce rider fatigue when you hit a bump when the fork is locked out.The fork also features a new air spring with a larger negative spring volume to increase initial sensitivity.It also changed the location where the positive and negative springs equalise pressure, helping add a higher ride height to the fork to give more predictability and better use of travel.Novel zero offset crownThe 32 Step Cast features a new 7000 series aluminium, 0mm offset crown to save grams. - Mike JamesRefinements elsewhere help shave off weight. The damper stanchion is double-butted, saving 9g versus the old stanchion.Fox also introduced a new 0mm offset crown. This is cast from 7000 series aluminium. To introduce 44mm of offset, the stanchions are angled in the crown by around 1 to 1.5 degrees.The switch to this design shaved 9g from the fork.Fox borrowed the Fox 34 Step-Cast steerer tube for the new fork,saving 11g from the previous 32 Step-Cast fork.The new Kabolt SL axle also shaves off 12g from the fork.     New BMC Roadmachine ups tyre clearance to 40mm and introduces down tube storage
    BMCs new Roadmachine endurance bike range sports a greater 40mm tyre clearance, down tube storage and a greater focus on improving compliance.The rear triangle has been redesigned to increase flex. The bike has an integrated rear light and a new one-piece cockpit on the flagship model.There are five options in the range starting with the Roadmachine 01 and Roadmachine. The latter uses a more cost-effective carbon construction to hit a more accessible price point.Theres also a gravel-oriented Roadmachine 01 X, with the Roadmachine X sitting beneath it.Finally, there is an updated Roadmachine AMP electric road bike. The new bike uses a TQ HPR50 motor, but the Mahle-equipped models will remain in the range for the foreseeable future.Pricing starts at 3,199 / AU$4,799 for the BMC Roadmachine Five and rises to 12,999 / AU$17,499 for the range-topping Roadmachine 01 Two.UK pricing and distribution is TBC.How does it ride? This is claimed to make the bike 27 per cent more compliant without sacrificing stiffness.The new bike bears the hallmarks of BMC design language. This includes the slightly raised triangular outside face of the top tube found on the outgoing Roadmachine, the kinked seatstays reminiscent of the Granfondo GF01, the D-shaped seatpost and ICS integrated cockpit.Kinked seatstays and a UCI-compliant seat tubeThe kinked seatstays are a nod to the Granfondo GF01. - Oscar Huckle / Our MediaThe extra compliance is mainly achieved via the redesigned rear triangle. Previously, the UCI mandated all tubes on the front triangle must be at least 25mm deep. This has been dropped to 10mm.The seatstays were lowered on the previous Roadmachine and remain in the same position. BMC says theyre as low as they can be while maintaining good power transfer and torsional stiffness.BMC says a thinner layup will result in additional flex at tube junctions.The weight goes up and frame storageThe frame weight is up by approximately 68g for a size 54cm. - Oscar Huckle / Our MediaBMC openly says it prioritised compliance and stiffness over reducing weight. The new Roadmachine is claimed to weigh 963g in a size 54cm with the lightest paint finish and without hardware.Thats heavier than the claimed 895g frame weight of the second-generation Roadmachine. BMC says most of the weight increase is because of adding down tube storage.Christ says maintaining stiffness while introducing frame storage was the biggest design challenge. He explains that, with a hole in the down tube, its hard to maintain the torsional stiffness of the tube. The outgoing fork was claimed to weigh 380g but BMC says this was with the steerer cut to an unspecified measurement.The second-tier Roadmachine is claimed to weigh 1,150g (also in a size 54 with the lightest paintjob). The matching fork weighs 480g.BMC says the cheaper frames offer the same riding characteristics but the increased weight is because of the different construction.40mm tyre clearanceBMC reckons you'll fit a tyre with up to a 40mm measured width with 4mm to spare. - Oscar Huckle / Our MediaThe Roadmachines 40mm tyre clearance is generous for an endurance road bike, with only the Specialized Roubaix SL8 matching it.For comparison, the Trek Domane SLR is rated to 38mm tyres, with the Canyon Endurace and Pinarello Dogma X topping out at 35mm.The Roadmachine achieves its generous 40mm tyre clearance with heavy sculpting around the seatstay junction and fork crown.Inspired by the BMC Kaius gravel race bike, the fork leg thickness has been reduced to increase clearance.BMC's sticking with a BB86 press-fit standard. - Oscar Huckle / Our MediaBMC says speccing a BB86 press-fit bottom bracket standard was also a key factor because a BSA threaded unit is wider.BMC says it would have been possible to increase tyre clearance further but this would have increased the rear-centre length something it didnt want to do.Stealth Dropouts and finishing touchesThe bike inherits BMC's Stealth Dropouts. - Oscar Huckle / Our MediaThe Roadmachine inherits BMC's Stealth Dropouts, which debuted on the fourth-generation Teammachine SLR01. Uptake on road bikes has been slower, with the Trek Domane SLR the most notable example to feature it to date.Because of the down tube storage, hoses are guided through the down tube to prevent them from being crushed.The down tube storage compartment is claimed to be water-repellent, rather than waterproof.Mudguard mountsThe Roadmachine and Roadmachine X feature mudguard mounts.You can also mount BMCs D-Fender mudguard on the saddle rails. This is similar to an AssSaver, albeit slightly longer and wider to increase coverage.The Roadmachine 01 models do not feature mudguard mounts but BMC says the tubes can accept the extra stress, and has tested them with clip-on mudguards.Integrated rear lightThere's an integrated rear light. - Oscar Huckle / Our MediaThe Roadmachine features an integrated 20-lumen StVZO USB-chargeable rear bike light with a claimed 90-minute run time. A similar light debuted on BMC's Roadmachine AMP and Speedmachine.     Mondraker turns Dune into a lightweight electric enduro bike with 55Nm of torque
    The new Mondraker Dune is a lightweight electric enduro bike with 165mm of rear wheel travel, Boschs Performance Line SX motor and a full carbon fibre frame.The electric mountain bike takes the name of the brand's old enduro bike with Mondraker saying it sees the new bike as the natural evolution of the original.Three models will be available at launch with prices starting from 6,799 / $10,999 / 7,999 for the Dune R while the top-of-the-range Dune XR is priced at 11,999 / $16,499 / 11,999.We had a chance to ride the bike at the launch event in Portugal, so check out our initial impressions in our Dune XR first ride review.Carbon mono-block rockerMondraker says the high-end XR's colourway takes inspiration from the Erg Chebbi Dunes in Morocco. - MondrakerMondraker has used its highest modulus Stealth Air Carbon Fibre layup for the Dunes frame, which is said to offer the best balance of stiffness, compliance, trail buzz absorption and weight.This extends to the mono-block carbon fibre rocker linkage in the Zero suspension system.Coil shocks offer greater initial sensitivity than air shocks. - MondrakerMondraker says it has optimised its Zero suspension system to get the most out of the eMTB's layout, positioning the shock lower in the frame for increased sensitivity and shock absorbance.The new design debuted on the Mondraker Neat released last year and sees the seat tube intersected by the rear shock.Mondraker says the Dune can be used with either a coil or air shock, with the top-end model featuring an hlins TTX22 M.2 Coil shock with 165mm of travel.This model also features a 180mm front suspension fork, while the base model uses a 170mm fork.Mondraker has committed to a mixed wheel size. - MondrakerThe bike has mullet wheels, with a 29in wheel used up front and a 27.5in wheel at the rear.Unlike some other bikes that use this layout, you can't swap the rear wheel out for a 29in rim.Bosch Performance Line SX motorThe Bosch Performance Line SX motor is one of the punchiest in its weight range. - MondrakerAt the centre of the bike is Boschs Performance Line SX ebike motor that pumps out 55Nm torque and 600W of peak power.This is connected to a 400Wh battery integrated into the bike's downtube, which Mondraker says should provide power for over 1500m of elevation, but its unclear in which assistance mode this is.The ebike can also be paired with a PowerMore 250Wh range extender, taking the total battery size to 650Wh though this takes the bottle cage's place in the frame.Love it or hate it, headset cable routing makes for a clean cockpit. - MondrakerInternal headset cable routing is used to keep the front end clutter-free.There is frame protection around the rear triangle, which is said to silence chain slap.Gravity-focused geometryThe Mondraker Dune has gravity-focused geometry. The head angle measures 63.6 degrees and there is a relatively long reach measurement, following the brand's Forward Geometry principle, which sees a longer top tube paired with a shorter stem.The bike is available in four sizes from S to XL, with chainstay lengths being the same across the range at 445mm.The seat tube angle is steep at 77.1 degrees, which should help centre your weight when tackling technical climbs.
