- WWW.BIKERADAR.COMYou can now buy Tom Pidcock and Pauline Ferrand-Prvot's Pinarello Dogma XC bikePinarello has announced its Dogma XC bikes, as ridden by world champions Pauline Ferrand-Prvot and Tom Pidcock, will be made available to buy. The brand is introducing the two XC bikes to the market one full-suspension and the other a hardtail. The bikes were developed in collaboration with Ferrand-Prvot and Pidcock. In a remarkably short span of three months, Pinarello designed a high-performance XC bike that Pidcock rode to victory at the first round of the XC World Cup in Nov Msto in 2023, while Ferrand-Prvot took second in the women's event.Pauline Ferrand-Prvot riding the Dogma XC to second place in Nov Msto. - PinarelloThroughout a year of rigorous testing and competition with the Ineos riders, the Dogma XC has undergone only minor tweaks, aimed primarily at reducing weight a key demand from the riders and is now ready for the consumer market. The Dogma XC shares the same frame design as the one used by the Ineos duo, albeit with some component changes.Notably, the SR Suntour suspension on the pro bikes isn't available for purchase. Pinarello has chosen what it considers the best components on the market: the new Fox 32 Step-Cast, which is said to be the lightest ever XC fork, a Fox Float SL shock, SRAM AXS drivetrain and Shimano brakes. The bikes come with DT Swiss wheels and Maxxis tyres. The bike is available with a mix of Fox, SRAM and Shimano components. - Alex Luise / PinarelloPinarello emphasises that the Dogma XC isn't your typical mass-market cross-country bike. It's a bike crafted with the aim of helping elite riders win races. So those purchasing it should not expect a forgiving ride. You can read Rachel Bennet's first-ride review of the Pinarello Dogma XC here.Asymmetrical designThe asymmetrical design is much more noticeable on the hardtail. - Alex Luise / PinarelloEach bike features a patented asymmetrical rear-triangle design, where the left side is reinforced. This design is said to enable the bike to counterbalance the increased forces exerted on the opposite side of the drivetrain. The result is a claimed enhancement in energy transfer balance, leading to improved speed and traction.Bottom bracket designThe unique bottom bracket design is said to provide stiffness and a responsive feel for excellent power transfer. - Alex Luise/ PinarelloOne of the most striking visuals of the Dogma is the bottom bracket area, with a cut-out triangular design. Pinarello says this delivers extreme stiffness and allows for an oversized bearing and pivot point for the rear triangle on the full-suspension bike, while keeping the weight down.FlexstaysThe flexstay suspension design and split rear triangle are intended to reduce weight, improve traction and enhance reactivity. - PinarelloFlexstays are gaining popularity on XC bikes, with models such as the Orbea Oiz and Cannondale Scalpel embracing this technology for weight savings. The system is featured on the Dogma too, utilising flexible areas integrated into the carbon fibre rear triangle to deliver rear-wheel travel.Pinarello adopted this design because it reduces pivot points, and is claimed to offer enhanced stiffness, lower weight and improved rear-wheel traction.Pinarello's split rear-triangle design incorporates two 'semi-triangles' around the main rotation point, eliminating the need for a bridge from the seatstays and chainstays. This innovation is claimed to allow for a reduced chainstay length, improved handling and enhanced reactivity.Pinarello also asserts that this design minimises mud build-up and accommodates a wider range of tyre sizes, up to 2.4in.AdjustabilityThe shock mount is adjustable to fit a 90mm or 100mm rear shock. - Alex Luise / PinarelloPinarello has designed the bike to be able to adapt to different racetracks, with the ability to adjust the rear travel. Riders have the option to configure the bike with a 100mm suspension fork and a 90mm shock, which come as standard on stock bikes, or opt for a 120mm fork paired with a 100mm shock.Pinarello Dogma XC geometryThe Dogma XC has a race-focused geometry. - Alex Luise / PinarelloThe bikes come in four sizes, ranging from S to XL, and the chainstay lengths remain consistent at 425mm across all sizes for the full-suspension model. This shorter chainstay design is aimed at enhancing agility and providing superior traction during climbs. The Dogma XC aligns with contemporary trends in cross-country bikes the small and medium-sized frames have a 67.5-degree head angle on both the hardtail and full-suspension versions. The head angle increases by 0.5 degrees for large and extra-large frames. The Dogma XC hardtail has a shorter reach of 470mm rather than 480mm (size large) and a 10mm lower bottom bracket height, again on size large to take into account the lack of rear suspension.Full-suspension SMLXL Seat tube angle (degrees)75.575.57575 Head tube angle (degrees)67.567.56868 Chainstay (mm)425425425425 Seat tube (mm)405440475510 Top tube (mm)578608639669 Bottom bracket height (mm)323323323323 Wheelbase (mm)1122.61152.71178.61209.2 Standover (mm)747747749751 Stack (mm)585590606620 Reach (mm)427455480505 Edit Table Hardtail SMLXL Seat tube angle (degrees)74.6757575 Head tube angle (degrees)67.567.86868.3 Chainstay (mm)418421424.3426.3 Seat tube (mm)405435470500 Top tube (mm)588.2611.5635657 Bottom bracket height (mm)309311313313 Wheelbase (mm)1111.91141.41167.91191.1 Stack (mm)598.9602.7615.8630.9 Reach (mm)423.1450470488 Edit Table Pinarello Dogma XC spec and price informationThe Pinarello Dogma line-up offers four models: two full-suspension bikes and two hardtail bikes. - WWW.BIKERADAR.COMNo more heel rub? 5Dev teases diamond-coated titanium cranks5Dev will soon offer a diamond-coated version of its titanium road/gravel cranks, potentially promising a heel-scuff-free finish for life.Spotted at the Sea Otter Classic show in California, the new coating is, as far as were aware, a first for a crankset. The cranks are available in coated and uncoated options. - Jack Luke / Our MediaThe diamond-like coating (DLC) is applied to the cranks via vapour deposition. This is a very similar finish and process to that used on diamond-coated drill bits and saw blades. The cranks are manufactured in-house by 5Dev in San Diego, but the coating process is carried out by a third-party contractor. A diamond-like coating is sometimes used to reduce wear on drill bits and saw blades.A spokesperson for 5Dev said the brand was unable to damage the slightly matt coating with a laser, and is confident the coating could make heel rub a thing of the past.5Dev is best known for its radical lattice-like mountain bike cranks, which promise reduced weight and fewer pedal strikes. The coating process results in a slightly matt finish - Jack Luke / Our MediaThese new cranks look more conventional, but hide some interesting tech. Theyre hollowed out from the rear, with a plate seamlessly laser-welded over this to seal the crank.Claimed to weigh 440g for 175mm cranks with a road spindle, theyre also available with gravel or XC mountain bike spindles.5Dev produces 42t and 52t aero chainrings for its road/gravel cranksets. - Jack Luke / Our MediaThe 5Dev cranks use SRAMs 8-bolt mount. This means they can be adapted to work with 2x drivetrains, a wide range of 1x chainrings including 5Devs neat aero chainrings and Quarq spider power meters. The diamond-coated version of the crankset is expected to be available in the next two months with final pricing TBD. The non-coated cranks are available for pre-order now at $999.99.0 Reacties 0 aandelen 98 Views

- WWW.BIKERADAR.COMParlee's new all-road bike has a monocoque frame for compliance and a nude, wax-coated carbon finishParlee has a new all-road bike, the Ouray, with a monocoque frame, nude carbon finish and clearance for 38mm tyres.Launched at the Sea Otter Classic in California, the Ouray marks Parlees return to form, after the company, best known for its custom carbon frames, was rescued from bankruptcy in 2023.The Ouray, named after a town in Colorados San Juan Mountains, is Parlees first all-road bike, sitting between the Z-Zero RS and RZ7 road bikes, and Z-Zero XD and Chebacco XD gravel bikes. The idea was to build an all-road bike that combined high-performance road with a little bit of gravel, says Parlee CEO John Harrison. Something that youre not afraid to get a little bit dirty.A monocoque carbon fibre frameset lies at the heart of the bike. This is made by a new manufacturing partner in Europe, rather than being a fully custom chassis. Parlee has returned to the headlines with the new Ouray all-road bike. - Scott Windsor / Our MediaParlee says the monocoque construction allows for a finely-tuned ride quality, by eliminating the bonded joints found on a frame made from multiple pieces. The frame has clearance for 38mm tyres. - Scott Windsor / Our MediaThe monocoque construction means we no longer have a dead spot around the stays, says Harrison. Parlees press material for the Ouray explains how the construction enables control [over] how each piece of carbon fibre interacts with the next, allowing us ultimate control over how the finished product rides. The frame shape is characterised by a sloping top tube and dropped seatstays. - Scott Windsor / Our MediaAccording to Parlee, every carbon layer is perfectly aligned, and the result is left on show thanks to the nude wax-coated finish. The frame is finished with a wax coating. - Scott Windsor / Our MediaThis is also Parlees first bike with a significantly sloping top tube, leaving more seatpost on show a move, coupled with the dropped seatstays, to further enhance comfort. Parlee has also remained loyal to the traditional round seatpost, though it has specced a 31.6mm-diameter post, rather than a slimmer option.A round 31.6mm seatpost slots into the frame. - Scott Windsor / Our MediaElsewhere, youll find SRAMs Universal Derailleur Hanger and a T47 bottom bracket. The Ouray will also ship with a range of headset adapter kits, for use with PRO, ENVE and FSA cockpit setups, with more to follow. We really focussed on open standards on this bike, adds Harrison. The Ouray ships with a number of headset adapters. - Scott Windsor / Our MediaIn terms of geometry, Parlee says it has honed the shape of the bike to fit a wider range of riders, with the sloping top tube also coming into play here. The Ouray will be available in five stock sizes, with fit points, such as seatpost setback, handlebar width, stem length and crank length customisable via a Parlee dealer. The bike on show at Sea Otter was equipped with a SRAM Force AXS drivetrain. - Scott Windsor / Our MediaZipp 303 Firecrest wheels and Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres for the rolling stock. - Scott Windsor / Our MediaParlee will offer the bike as a frameset or in a range of complete builds with Shimano and SRAM groupsets. - Scott Windsor / Our MediaParlee will fit complete bikes with 160mm rotors. - Scott Windsor / Our Media0 Reacties 0 aandelen 100 Views

- WWW.BIKERADAR.COMDT Swiss announces new Ratchet DEG freehubs with lowest engagement angle everDT Swiss has announced its new Ratchet DEG freehub, which will appear on the brands 240 mountain bike wheels. When designing the Ratchet DEG, DT Swiss says it wanted to deliver the smallest angle of engagement possible by using new 90-tooth steel ratchets. To put that into context, the ratchet in the brands 240 Ratchet EXP freehubs have 36 teeth, although a 54T Star Ratchet Upgrade Kit is available separately. The new Ratchet DEG freehub sits alongside the brands revered Ratchet EXP (which is lighter) and the Ratchet EXP OS eMTB freehub, as well as its cheaper Ratchet and Ratchet LN options.4 degrees of engagementThe internals of the Ratchet DEG system. - DT SwissThe 90t ratchets translate to a 4-degree engagement angle, the smallest engagement angle in any wheel DT Swiss has ever offered.DT Swiss says the simultaneous full engagement of the ratchets provides a larger contact patch than pawl hubs and thus a more balanced load distribution, resulting in higher reliability. This will be particularly useful when you need to accelerate quickly when riding up a technical climb, for example. The system uses two enlarged ratchets with 90 teeth. - DT SwissTo achieve this result, DT Swiss says it had to adapt the driveside of the hub. The brand has adapted the hubs profile and removed the threaded ring you previously needed to remove to access the hub bearings. This will be good news for mechanics, because you no longer need to invest in a specific tool to remove this threaded ring.PricingThe technology is limited to the 240 hubs for now. - DT SwissThe hubs will be available in a Classic Edition, as well as a Limited Red Edition (of which there are fittingly 240 available). The Classic Edition is available in 12x148mm and 12x157mm Boost, with your choice of Shimano MicroSpline or SRAM XD freehub, and in six-bolt disc only. You can pick between 28 and 32 spoke holes. A rear hub will retail for 354.99 / $499.90 / 376.90 / AU$599.The Limited Red Edition is only available in 15x110 front and 12x148mm axles in 32h and SRAM XD freehub only. The pricing for the rear hub is identical to the Classic Edition, with the front 159.99 / $229.90 / 169.90 / AU$289.DT Swiss will be including these hubs on two complete wheel models specifically the EXC 1501 Spline One and XMC 1501 Spline One wheelsets.0 Reacties 0 aandelen 105 Views

- WWW.BIKERADAR.COMZipps new Super-9 disc wheel is optimised for wider tyres and lower pressuresZipp has launched its latest full-carbon disc wheel, the Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Disc. With a progressively wide hookless rim, Zipp says the new Super-9 disc wheel is fastest when paired with 28mm-wide tubeless road bike tyres and lower tyre pressures. It includes an integrated Quarq TyreWiz, enabling riders to monitor their tyre pressures in real time from a connected bike computer. At a claimed weight of only 1,050g, Zipp says the Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Disc is among the lightest disc wheels available.Zipp says Chlo Dygert, of the Canyon//SRAM Racing Womens WorldTour team, used the new Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Disc to win the womens individual time trial at the 2023 UCI World Championships.Built around Zipps flagship ZR1 hub (with ceramic bearings), the Zipp Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Disc is available now and costs 2,450 / $3,000 / 2,750.Wider is faster, even with disc wheelsZipp's focus with its latest disc wheel was overall system efficiency, not just aerodynamics. - ZippIn line with its other road wheelsets, the new Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Disc has been updated in accordance with Zipps Total System Efficiency (TSE) philosophy. This sees the move to a wide, hookless rim designed for larger tyres and lower tyre pressures.Zipp says this combination offers lower rolling resistance, as well as improved handling and cornering grip.As such, the internal rim width has grown substantially from 18mm on the outgoing Super-9 Tubeless disc wheel, to 23mm-wide on the new one. This is the same internal rim width as on its 454 and 858 NSW, and 404 and 808 Firecrest rims, although its 353 NSW and 303 Firecrest rims are wider with 25mm internal widths. The external rim width of the Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Disc is 30.4mm.The Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Disc wheel uses a wide hookless rim. - ZippBecause the rim is hookless, it can only be used with tubeless tyres (though you can use an inner tube with a tubeless tyre if you prefer).Zipp says a 700x28c tyre is both the minimum and optimal size tyre for the Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Disc wheel.Aerodynamically, Zipp says the new Super-9 disc wheel performs similarly to the previous version. It counts this as a win, though, since wider rims and tyres have a larger frontal area than narrow ones, which typically increases drag.Consequently, the wheel is according to Zipp faster thanks to watt-savings from reduced rolling resistance. The Zipp Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Disc wheel was wind-tunnel tested in bikes from multiple brands. - ZippZipp hasnt put a specific figure on exactly how many watts riders can expect to save, but it did note the wheel was wind-tunnel tested in the leading four triathlon bikes, to ensure it worked well across different models. It also says it tested the wheel on a rolling road with three tyre models, the Vittoria Corsa Pro TLR, the Continental GP5000 TT TR and the Schwalbe Pro One TT, to ensure consistent results.Zipp says the new Super-9 disc wheel is 125g lighter than the outgoing model, bringing its weight down to 1,050g.Zipp's new Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Disc wheel features an integrated Quarq TyreWiz sensor. - ZippZipp has integrated a Quarq TyreWiz sensor into the Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Disc.Zipp says this will enable riders to monitor their tyre pressures in real time, either while riding or when reaching their bike during the transition of a triathlon. The valve hole has also been enlarged, giving a little more room for a track pump head to fit in (though it notes a pump adaptor will still be required, and is included with the wheel). The wheel also includes a dedicated valve hole cover to negate the need to tape over the hole.A new valve hole cover negates the need to tape over the rim. - ZippAs before, the Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Disc uses a textured surface, which Zipp says helps to control airflow shedding off the wheel. It costs 2,450 / $3,000 / 2,750 and is available as a rear wheel only, with either a Shimano HG or SRAM XDR freehub.Super-9 Clincher Track DiscZipp is on board with the trend for clinchers in track cycling. - ZippWhile tubular tyres remain a dominant force in track cycling events, clincher wheels have seen a steady growth in popularity in recent years, taking a number of high-profile wins. Most notably, Filippo Ganna broke the UCI Hour Record in 2022 aboard a Pinarello Bolide F HR 3D equipped with Princeton CarbonWorks Track Special clincher disc wheels and Continental GP5000 TT TR tyres. On trend, Zipp has also announced the Super-9 Clincher Track Disc, which will be used at the 2024 Paris Olympics.Designed to deliver optimal aerodynamic performance with a 23mm-wide tyre, the Super-9 Clincher Track Disc uses a 21mm internal rim width.According to Zipp, the rim uses small tyre bead hooks designed for optimal aerodynamic efficiency presumably to reduce the lightbulb effect large clincher hooks can have on a tyre. The wheel is also said to be constructed with a track-specific carbon laminate, making the wheel stiffer than the road-specific version. The Super-9 Clincher Track Disc uses a flat profile and gets Zipps proprietary textured surface.Zipp claims a Super-9 Clincher Track Disc wheel weighs 1,000g exactly. It costs 2,450 / $3,000 / 2,750, and is available as either a front or rear wheel.Zipp says the front version can be had with a standard 100mm-wide axle, or with a 40mm-wide axle to work with the Canyon SpeedMax CFR Track.0 Reacties 0 aandelen 97 Views
