- WWW.CYCLIST.CO.UKWho won the most prize money at the 2024 Tour de France?CyclistWho won the most prize money at the 2024 Tour de France? The Tour de France 2024 has finally rounded out with Tadej Pogaar becoming the first rider in 26 years to do the Giro-Tour double. With this victory, Pogaar becomes the youngest rider to ever win three Tours de France. Before the race, we broke down all the figures behind the Tour de Frances 2.282 million prize pot, with insight into how much each classification provides. Now its all been divvied out, we delve into the Tours big money questions. How much did Tadej Pogaar win at the Tour de France? Which teams brought home big bucks despite a small budget? And, who flopped despite having a 50 million team budget? Also, bear in mind that prize money is usually split among the whole team, both riders and staff. Tadej Pogaar secures an estimated total of 650,000A.S.O./Billy CeustersThere are no prizes for guessing that Tadej Pogaar picked up the most prize money at the 2024 Tour de France. His haul is headlined by the 500,000 cheque given for the overall win. This is equivalent to 70,000 Big Macs, 170 bottles of Chateau Ptrus, the worlds most expensive wine or 31 full Colnago V4Rs bikes. On his way to overall glory, Pogaar picked up some neat bonuses. The 25-year-old won 66,000 for his six stage wins, plus the daily amounts awarded for wearing the yellow jersey (9,000 throughout the race), and a healthy five-figure tally for his stage placings. In total, he earned the team approximately 650,000 by our estimations. This is the most he has ever earned at a single Tour de France. The second most lucrative rider at the Tour in terms of prize money is Visma-Lease a Bikes Jonas Vingegaard. The Dane clocked up an estimated total of around 250,000, including the 200,000 earned for finishing as the runner-up.The best young rider, Remco Evenepoel, finished in third place overall at the 2024 Tour de France. In total, he comes out as the third highest prize money scorer at the 2024 race. We estimate that Evenepoels winnings, including 100,000 for finishing on the podium, round out to approximately 170,000.Biniam Girmay, the green jersey winner, clocked up a prize money haul of somewhere around 85,000-90,000. He is the fourth biggest earner from the Tour. Related Posts Is this the end of Tour de France breakaways? UAE Team Emirates on top alongside GC giantsA.S.O./Charly LopezTo no ones surprise, UAE Team Emirates take home the biggest cheque from this Tour de France. In total, Pogaars team raked in 806,810. The team, who filled three spots in the top ten of GC, also took home the team classification prize worth 50,000, plus Pogaars six stage wins. In total, UAE Team Emirates won 35.3% of the total prize money on offer at this years Tour. For context, this is a larger prize pool than Jumbo-Vismas 779,750 won during their barnstorming 2022 Tour. The rest of the prize money podium comprises the rest of the GC podium teams. Visma-Lease a Bike took home the second largest amount of prize money on 356,220 44% of UAEs total winnings. Soudal-QuickStep received 248,860, including the 20,000 awarded for Evenepoels white jersey victory.Intermarch-Wanty were the Tours overachievers, finishing in fourth place in the team prize money standings. With a total prize pot of 111,760, the Belgian team were the highest non-GC team on the list. This is mainly due to Girmays green jersey win and his three stage wins. However, Mike Teunissens 3,000 prize for being the best teammate of the second week can also be added into the mix.EF Education-EasyPost salvaged their Tour de France balance sheet in the final week of the race. Richard Carapazs stage win in SuperDvoluy, his late raid on the polka dot jersey and his super combative prize brought the American teams total to a healthy 90,210. They finished in a respectable fifth place in the prize money standings.Full Tour de France 2024 prize money standingsA.S.O./Charly LopezUAE Team Emirates (806,810)Visma-Lease a Bike (356,220)Soudal-QuickStep (248,860)Intermarch-Wanty (111,760)EF Education-EasyPost (90,210)Alpecin-Deceunick (77,520)Ineos Grenadiers (65,780)Uno-X Mobility (60,170)Movistar Team (54,060)TotalEnergies (50,300)Lidl-Trek (41,980)Jayco-AlUla (37,740)Lotto-Dstny (37,170)Cofidis (34,770)DSM-Firmenich-PostNL (34,200)Israel-Premier Tech (33,130)Groupama-FDJ (31,720)Bahrain Victorious (30,320)Arka-B&B Hotels (23,820)Astana-Qazaqstan (20,690)Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale (18,260)Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe (16,710)Decathlon-AG2R disappoint and Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe trailA.S.O./Billy CeustersLooking through the list, Uno X punched above their weight. Jonas Abrahamsen will also feel hard done by having missed out on the 20,000 cheque offered to the most combative rider to Carapaz.TotalEnergies another UCI ProTeam ended up in the top half of the rankings with 50,300, helped by Anthony Turgiss stage win on Stage 9, Matto Verchers close call on Stage 18 and Steff Crass 16th place in GC.Towards the lower end of the scale, three WorldTour teams hold the bottom three places.Despite Mark Cavendishs stage win Astana Qazaqstan received the third smallest prize money sum, with 20,690. Just over half of this came from Cav. With Chinese firm XDSs backing in the new year, the team will be hoping to improve greatly in Tours to come.Decathlon-AG2R underwhelmed in this Tour de France. The French squad signed off with a cheque of just 18,260 as a result, the second-lowest amount. This is a big contrast to the teams top five position in the 2024 UCI Rankings coming into the race.Rounding out the teams is Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe. Much was expected of Ralf Denks squad after an active transfer market and a bold rebrand ahead of the Tour. Instead, the team failed to win any stages and lost any chance of finishing in the top 15 of GC. In return, the German team secured a prize pot of just 16,710.Prize money and team budget comparisonA.S.O./Billy CeustersIn order to unravel who the real winners and losers were based on the teams financial means, we divided the prize money won at the Tour de France by the teams budget. According to leaked information, team budgets vary from the 55 million marker (UAE Team Emirates) to 16 million (Intermarch-Wanty). This ranking should give a fair ranking of who had the best Tour de France regardless of fiscal constraint.A necessary caveat is that only WorldTour team budgets were calculated through the leaked budget estimations. Therefore, TotalEnergies, Lotto-Dstny, Uno-X and Israel-Premier Tech do not feature in this ranking. All these teams, however, performed better than some big budget WorldTour outfits.Full ranking of prize money divided by team budgetUAE Team EmiratesSoudal-QuickstepIntermarch-WantyVisma-Lease a BikeEF Education-EasyPostAlpecin-DeceuninckMovistar TeamCofidisJayco-AlUlaDSM-Firmenich-PostNLArka-B&B HotelsGroupama-FDJLidl-TrekIneos GrenadiersBahrain VictoriousAstana-QazaqstanDecathlon-AG2R La MondialeRed Bull-Bora-HansgroheBig budgets rewarded, tighter teams overperformedA.S.O./Billy CeustersUAE Team Emirates sit at the top of the list, and its to be expected given that the team has the biggest budget in the sport. Its yearly expenditure of around 55 million is reflected in the high calibre of riders. Soudal-QuickStep and Visma-Lease a Bike also showed their deep pockets.Intermarch-Wanty are the WorldTour team with the smallest budget in the top-tier of professional cycling. For them to sit within the top three of financial performers is very impressive. EF also have a budget within the lower quartile of the WorldTour, making this Tour de France a very lucrative three weeks of racing.Ineos, Bahrain and (yet again) Red Bull outplayedA.S.O./Billy CeustersOn the other end of the spectrum, Lidl-Trek disappointed despite a big budget increase courtesy of the German supermarkets financial injection last year. The team of Mads Pedersen and Giulio Ciccone finished the Tour outside of the top ten in GC and without a stage win for the first time since 2019.Financial underperformers include Ineos Grenadiers, who have a budget of around 50 million, and Bahrain Victorious who have the sixth biggest budget in the WorldTour. Ineos also missed out on key objectives including the top five in GC, the white jersey and even a stage win. Despite the big budget, they stick out like a sore thumb on this list even if the former Tour-winning squad slotted into seventh in the prize money standings.Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe continue their poor Tour in these rankings. At the beginning of the season, Bora boasted the seventh largest budget in the WorldTour. Whether the Red Bull money has tricked down into the team just yet is unknown. If the budget is bigger as a result of this, their last place will only be amplified. Related Posts Is this the end of Tour de France breakaways? We need to swap batteries, so we need bikes gathered in as few areas as possible outside the city centre so we can get to all batteries in time. The Moby reduction also applies to non-electric stationless bicycle share offering.HughCooney, CEO of Bleeper, said that it operates two zones, one for electric bikes and one for standard bicycles. The map showing the two zones can be switched in their app.He said: We only have 50 e-bikes at the moment, so, that is why the service area is smaller than our pedal bike area. He added that the company has 700 standard bicycles to support the wider area for non-electric bicycles.Cooney said the company posted a blog post explaining the reason for the smaller zone for electric bicycles. It said, As Bleepers e-bike fleet grows, we intend to expand the area that will be covered by the service. For now, please pay close attention to the map in the Bleeper app to ensure you park your e-bike within a designated operating zone. When asked what kind of target Bleeper has for electric bicycle expansion, he said that its Too early to say and that Safe charging of lithium batteries is paramount, so, we are taking our time to ensure we get that right. Its understood that the industry is cautious after a large fire in April at a DCU Alpha Campus building in Glasniven, which Moby rented and included a battery charging facility.0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 279 Visualizações
