The Lab: Pneuma CC Floor Pump Review Compressor Floor Pump for Tubeless Tires
Think tire installation, and chances are you also think about tubeless, and all of the hassle that can come with it. Sometimes sealant spills everywhere, other times the tire simply refuses to pop into place. Thanks to its integrated compressor function, the Feedback Sports floor pump promises to make the whole process a breeze. We put the Pneuma CC Floor Pump to the test!Feedback Sports Pneuma CC Floor Pump I 1,936 g I 99 I Manufacturers websiteAt first glance, the Feedback Sports Pneuma CC looks like an ordinary floor pump. But appearances can be deceiving. The Pneuma CC combines the functionality of a conventional floor pump with an integrated pressure tank, neatly hidden away without any additional components. The highlight? The discreet tank isnt just designed to make tubeless installation easier, it can also supply Feedbacks Pro Air Lift repair stand with the pressure it needs in no time. The floor pump aims to impress with clever features such as the seamlessly integrated pressure tank, all at an RRP of 99. Is this the tool weve been missing for hassle-free tubeless setups at home, without a noisy compressor? And is it worth buying?Feedback Sports Pneuma CC Floor PumpThe Key Facts at a GlancePrice: 99Weight: 1,936 g Type: floor pump with integrated pressure tankValve compatibility: Presta, Schrader and ClikSpecial feature: switch between pressure tank and regular pump without any conversionGeneral use allgemein: home workshop, tubeless installation and tire pressure adjustmentSuitable for: gravel, road, MTB, trekkingTested use: tubeless installation on a road bike and XC bikeWhat Exactly is a Floor Pump with a Pressure Tank? This type of pump combines a conventional floor pump with a reservoir to store compressed air. You first use the pump to manually pressurise the integrated tank. Flip the lever and the stored air is released into the tire in one powerful burst. This sudden blast of air pushes the tubeless tire straight into the rim bed. It does exactly what youd otherwise need a noisy workshop compressor for.Feedback Sports Pneuma CC Floor Pump Review What Can this Compressor Floor Pump Do?It doesnt take long to see what the Pneuma CC is capable of. The robust body and wide steel base form a stable unit, keeping the pump firmly planted even when you put some muscle into it. In our test, it seated tubeless tires without any problems on both the road bike and XC bike, and that was true for every different tire we tried. This is despite the pump being noticeably slimmer, and having a smaller tank volume than some competing models. We tested it with standard Presta valves. However, if youre dealing with heavily gummed-up valve cores or a particularly stubborn tire, the Pneuma CC Floor Pumps smaller tank could reach its limits. In that case, the blast of air might not hit the tire with enough pressure. It takes ten strokes to fill the tank, with the resistance only becoming noticeable after around seven. The pump remains easy to operate up to roughly 7 bar. The air release feels slightly slower, but its still more than sufficient to seat a tire. Thanks to the high volume per stroke, the pump shifts plenty of air with every push. Another plus is its comfortable height, which made the Pneuma CC Floor Pump a good fit for taller riders in our test, too. The elongated pump head and long hose make pumping noticeably easier. The head works directly with Presta, Schrader and Clik valves, with no conversion required. Attaching it to the valve and removing it again is effortless, with very little air loss. For storage, the hose runs neatly along the pump body where it is secured with a clip. Theres also a handy accessory compartment built directly into the handle, with room for tools and adapters The body of the Pneuma CC Floor Pump feels robust, with cleanly finished edges. Another positive is that wear parts such as the pump head, hose, O-rings and clip are available as spares. The foot lever is made of plastic. How well the mechanism will hold up over time if you accidentally press down too hard remains to be seen. A small click mechanism when the lever engages, providing tactile feedback, would be a useful addition it could help prevent you from applying too much force.Ergonomically, the rubberised plastic handle of the Pneuma CC Floor Pump works well, although riders with very large hands might appreciate another 3 to 4 centimetres of width. The low-mounted pressure gauge doesnt get in the way in everyday use, though the bar markings are very small compared to the PSI scale.DThe stable, wide base gives the Pneuma CC Floor Pump a solid footing while the ergonomically shaped handle provides excellent control when pumping. No wobbling or slipping while you pump.In a nutshell: the Pneuma CC seated every tubeless tire we tested on our road and XC bikes without any problems. The compact pressure tank is sufficient for typical tubeless setups, but it can reach its limits with particularly stubborn tires or gummed-up valve cores.Who is the Feedback Sports Pneuma CC Floor Pump For?The Pneuma CC Floor Pump is right for you if you Want to make tubeless tire installation easier Are short on space Need a floor pump for everyday useThe Pneuma CC Floor Pump isnt right for you if you Are looking for a portable roadside solution or a professional workshop toolWould We Buy the Feedback Sports Pneuma CC Floor Pump?Yes. The combination of a floor pump and effective pressure tank makes everyday tire installation considerably easier. The floor pump feels very well made, with no sharp edges, while its wide base keeps it stable even at high pressures. After putting it through its paces, we think the priceperformance ratio is spot on at 99.Conclusion on the Pneuma CC Floor PumpThe Feedback Sports Pneuma CC Floor Pump is a well-designed floor pump for any home workshop. In our test, the integrated pressure tank reliably delivered the blast of air needed to seat tubeless tires, making a separate compressor unnecessary. Our only minor criticisms are the rather small bar scale and the slightly narrow handle. If youre looking for a versatile, high-quality pump for home workshop use, the Pneuma CC ticks all the right boxes.TopsStable, wide baseHigh-quality, robust constructionReliably helps with tubeless tire installationSufficiently long high-pressure hose and high volume per strokeEasy to service: can be disassembled and spare parts are readily availableFlopsBar scale is a little too smallHandle is slightly narrow for large handsFor more information, visit feedbacksports.com Want to read more pump reviews? The best cycling headphones Ive ever tested are at their lowest price yet in Amazons Big Deal Day sale
Ive tested all the leading headphones for cycling and running and, try as I might, Ive been unable to find a rival that eclipses Shokz, whether for bone-conduction or open-ear designs. The good news is the brand formerly known as AfterShokz, which claims to have more than 7 million customers, has launched a two-day autumn Prime Big Deal Day sale. Its offering discounts of up to 40, or 32%, off its celebrated headphones today and tomorrow. While Id advocate approaching Prime Day with a healthy level of cynicism and supporting independent retailers where you can, there are deals to be had. Shokz has dropped the price of no fewer than nine of its sports headphones models including the OpenFit 2+, which I rate as the best headphones for cycling, by 35 to 144.I believe cycling or running with headphones can be done safely, but that doesnt mean you should grab some in-ear buds, crank the latest Angine de Poitrine album up to 10 and jump on your bike feeling invincible.Id suggest reading our buyers guide to the best headphones for cycling, which explains the different types of headphone technology and rounds up the best options. If youve already done your research and a pair of Shokz headphones are on your wishlist, read on for the best deals this Prime Big Deal Day.Shokz OpenFit 2+ 179 144 (save 20%) The Shokz OpenFit 2+ wireless buds are the best overall cycling headphones we've tested. Scott Windsor / Our Media The OpenFit 2+ wireless buds hold BikeRadars best overall award for cycling headphones, and I love their well-rounded sound and comfortable, confidence-inspiring open-ear design. Most importantly, unlike in-ear buds, they leave your ear canals unobstructed, enabling you to pick up traffic and ambient noise, with the soft silicone-coated earhooks keeping them securely in place. The OpenFit 2+ buds were my go-to choice for running and commuter cycling for over a year, and I trusted them throughout my training for half-marathons in Berlin and Valencia, as well as the Manchester Marathon. Theyve never once fallen off my ears.Im currently testing the latest OpenFit Pro buds (219), which offer even greater sound quality and wireless charging, and these accompanied me for the Copenhagen Half Marathon last month. However, the OpenFit 2+ offer most of that hi-fi performance and, at 144 from Amazon, theyre now 75 cheaper than the top-tier option. If I were spending my own money, thats where it would go.If audiophile quality is not your top priority, but you want the comfort and security offered by the much-imitated Shokz open-ear design, the OpenFit Air buds are down from 94 to 64 for Prime Day, representing a 31 per cent saving for a budget option I found very usable when I tried them out. Buy the Shokz OpenFit 2+ for 144 Buy the Shokz OpenFit Air for 64Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 169 134 (save 21%) The OpenRun Pro 2 is our choice as the best bone-conduction headphones on the market. Scott Windsor / Our Media Despite the open-ear approach enabling you to maintain better road awareness than in-ear buds, many cyclists prefer bone-conduction designs for optimum safety. These transmit your favourite tunes via vibrations through your skull rather than directly into your ear canal. The best bone-conduction headphones Ive tested are the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2, and you can save 35 on these, reduced for Prime Day to 134.I had a great time testing the OpenRun Pro 2s, listening to John Martyns seminal Solid Air album while rolling along the towpath to work, finding the audio performance better than the also impressive Suunto Wing. The orange colourway is a stunner and the Ni-Ti memory alloy band is flexible, durable and comfortable to wear.Theres also an Eliud Kipchoge co-branded version that appeals to my running obsession. If you dont mind an earlier version of this design, the biggest saving Shokz is offering for Autumn Prime Day is a hefty 40.95 off the original OpenRuns, which are now on sale for 89. Buy the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 for 134 Buy the Shokz OpenRun for 89Shokz OpenDots One 149 114.99 The OpenDots One use a clip-on design to keep your ear canals clear. Gary Walker The third, and emerging, approach to road-safe headphones for cycling and running is clip-on buds. These work by gripping (gently) to your outer ear, with the driver resting behind your earlobe. This design is claimed by Shokz to offer better comfort and hygiene than other types of ear bud, while enabling you to maintain situational awareness on the move.Im currently testing the Bose Ultra Open buds, alongside the OpenDots One. My early impressions of both have been very positive, and Im a convert to this approach. The OpenDots One buds are available for 114.99, down from 149, while there's also a Prime Big Deal Day saving on the new OpenDots Two, which are reduced from 179 to 152. Buy the Shokz OpenDots One for 114.99 But the Shokz OpenDots Two for 152
