Which bike brands, groupsets and wheels won the most at Grand Tours in 2024?
CyclistWhich bike brands, groupsets and wheels won the most at Grand Tours in 2024?The 2024 Grand Tour season is over, with a full year of Slovenian domination on the mens side alongside a wide open womens season. Of course while most fans are busy celebrating riders and teams, behind the scenes sponsors will be whooping up their Christmas parties after they backed winners on the biggest stages in cycling. Some sponsors have more skin in the game than others, with their products being used by riders in races the stakes are significantly higher. Its certainly not great for business when Guillaume Martin says your 10k bike is too heavy.Without getting too into the nitty gritty of teams tech partners you can see the full list here and figure out which bottle cage producer was the most successful if thats your thing weve tallied up the totals and figured out which bikes, groupsets and wheels were ridden to the most stage wins at the mens and womens Giro dItalia, Tour de France and Vuelta a Espaa in 2024.Best bike brands of the 2024 Grand Tours1. Specialized (AG Insurance-Soudal, Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, SD Worx-Protime, Soudal-QuickStep), 17 stage wins, 2 overallA.S.O/Sprint Cycling AgencyBike supplier for four WorldTour teams, Specialized is the most victorious bike brand in Grand Tours for the second year running. Specialized bikes took 17 stages in total as well as overall victories in both Vueltas from Primo Rogli and Demi Vollering. Interestingly, despite the womens tours having fewer stages and Specializeds mens teams being among the biggest, the brand had more success thanks to its womens teams, whose exploits comprise nine of those 17 stages. Breakout wins for AG Insurances Kim Le Court and Justine Ghekiere and four for Vollering alone meant that Specialized just scraped ahead of the second placed brand.2. Colnago (UAE Team Emirates, UAE Team ADQ), 16 stage wins, 2 overallA.S.O./Billy CeustersOh what couldve been. Tadej Pogaar almost single handedly took Colnago to the very top and surely would have if hed have ridden the Vuelta. However just the one victory from womens team UAE Team ADQ courtesy of Chiara Consonni wasnt enough to hold off the charge from the Big S.Considering the number of teams Specialized sponsors this is to be expected though and it is a huge boost for Colnago to be this high as it didnt even feature in the top three last year. Could they go even higher in 2025?3. Canyon (Alpecin-Deceuninck, Canyon-SRAM, Fenix-Deceuninck, Movistar), 10 wins, 1 overallASO/Charly LopezAnother four-teamer, in the year it released the new Aeroad Canyon were actually seven stages worse off than 2023, largely due to Annemiek van Vleutens retirement and a levelling of the sprinting field in the mens Tour de France. Theyre also one down overall, as Van Vleuten won the Giro and the Vuelta last year, but considering Kasia Niewiadoma won for Canyons name-sponsored team at the biggest race of all, the German brand will be pretty happy with that return. There were also breakthrough stage wins for Puck Pieterse and Neve Bradbury, so youd expect a bounce back for 2025 is on the cards. Maybe Enric Mas will finally deliver that Vuelta victory. Top ten most successful bike brands1. Specialized, 17 stages2. Colnago, 16 stages3. Canyon, 10 stages4. Cervlo, 7 stages5. Giant, 6 stages6. Trek and Cannondale, 5 stages8. Scott, 4 stages9. Van Rysel and Cube, 3 stages Related Posts Classified sponsors gravel team and launches three new wheelsets Who actually are the Tour de France team sponsors 2024? All the Tour de France team bikes, tech and kit 2024 Best groupsets of the 2024 Grand Tours1. Shimano, 62 wins, 2 overallPatrik Lundin/CyclistShimano is up on 2023, after there was a hint that its dominance may have been coming to an end. The Japanese giants monopoly on the WorldTour has been decreasing, as evidenced by its zero Grand Tours wins last year, but Tadej Pogaar got things back on track with his Giro-Tour double this time around.2. SRAM, 25 overall, 4 overallLizzie CrabbIn the year SRAM released its new Red AXS groupset, it has seen a decrease of five wins, which essentially comes down to a weak year for Visma-Lease a Bike. The American brand has control over the womens peloton including SD Worx, Lidl-Trek and of course Canyon-SRAM, so took all three overall wins on the womens side. Primo Rogli was its saving grace at the Vuelta, while sprint wins for Jonathan Milan and Wout van Aerts Vuelta performance helped keep the numbers respectable.Campagnolo is yet to make a WorldTour comeback despite finally releasing a wireless electronic groupset.Best wheels of the 2024 Grand Tours1. Roval, Shimano and Enve, 17 winsThe race for the most successful or winningest if youre a terrible person wheel brand in 2024 was so tight it was split between Roval, Shimano and Enve. Each of these have very different ways of getting to that number though. Rovals entries are just from the Specialized teams, easy. Shimano has a number of teams, but not all the ones that use Shimano groupsets teams that use Shimano wheels include Ineos, Alpecin(and Fenix)-Deceuninck, FDJ (both) and DSM-Firmenich-PostNL. Enves tally is made from all UAEs wins on the Colnagos, plus a single success by one Anthony Turgis on the Enve-sponsored TotalEnergies team to take the Utah manufacturer to the very top alongside two giants of the sport. Lets hope we counted correctly Related Posts Classified sponsors gravel team and launches three new wheelsets Who actually are the Tour de France team sponsors 2024?
